FAQ
Questions, answered plainly
Still wondering something? Call Miss Renee at 703 463 7317 or email rhipp@thedetails.org.
- What does it cost?
- Nothing. There is no fee, no retainer, and no markup. Hotels pay The Details a standard commission on the rooms your group actually uses, the same way they pay any group housing company.
- Do I pay more because of the commission?
- No. Your rate is negotiated down, not marked up. Commission is a cost of sales hotels already budget for. Groups who book direct simply leave it on the table.
- What is an attrition clause?
- It is the share of your room block you promise to fill. If your group books fewer rooms than promised, the hotel can bill you for the difference. Miss Renee negotiates the percentage down and sizes the block honestly so you are not paying for empty rooms.
- What is a cutoff date?
- The day any unbooked rooms in your block return to the hotel, usually 30 days before arrival. After that your attendees pay whatever the public rate is. Miss Renee negotiates a later cutoff and reminds you before it arrives.
- What if I already have a hotel in mind?
- Perfect. Name it on the form. Miss Renee will negotiate there. You are never locked into a list of properties.
- How fast will I hear back?
- Miss Renee calls you within one business day of your request, already knowing every detail you entered.
- What if we need fewer than 15 rooms?
- Negotiated blocks start at 15 rooms on the peak night, but fill out the form anyway. Miss Renee will point you in the right direction, and it still costs you nothing to ask.
- Do you handle meeting space and meals?
- Yes. General session, breakouts, exhibit space, AV, and food and beverage are all negotiated alongside the room block.
- Where do you work?
- Any destination. Home base is Issaquah, Washington, with 25 years of Pacific Northwest and mountain resort relationships.
- Who signs the contract?
- You do. The contract is between your organization and the hotel. Miss Renee prepares it, reads every line, and explains anything unusual before you sign. Payment goes directly to the hotel.
Same hotels. Better deal. Plus the details nobody else knows to ask for. Free to you, always.
